KISS FM presenter Melvin Odoom confirmed as fifth contestant for Strictly Come Dancing 2016

Kiss FM Presenter Melvin Odoom is the fifth celebrity contestant to be confirmed for the brand new series of Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One.

The announcement was made this morning (Friday 12 August) on the Kiss FM Breakfast Show, where Melvin confirmed he will be taking part in the brand new series.

“I’m honoured to be part of Strictly 2016! I’m looking forward to learning some new moves of course….but basically it’s the sequins that clinched it for me. I need sparkle in my life and there’s nothing more sparkly that Strictly. I just hope that my dance partner isn’t too tall!” said Melvin.

Popular DJ and presenter Melvin is the former presenter of The Xtra Factor on ITV2 alongside Rochelle Humes. Melvin is also a long standing DJ at Kiss FM and hosts an award winning breakfast show with Rickie Haywood-Williams and Charlie Hedges.

Since his career begun, Melvin has hosted shows for 4Music, T4, Kiss TV, Box TV and MTV. As well this, he has been one of the team leaders on every series of BBC Three’s Sweat The Small Stuff. Most recently Melvin made his primetime hosting debut on ITV’s Bang On The Money on Saturday nights, and hosted backstage at the Brit Awards with Laura Whitmore.

More celebrity contestants for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing will be announced next week.
