Joe McFadden is the sixth celebrity contestant confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing 2017

Joe McFadden is the sixth celebrity contestant confirmed for the brand new series of Strictly Come Dancing. The 15th series of the BAFTA award-winning entertainment show produced by BBC Studios will return in the autumn on BBC One putting the sparkle back into Saturday and Sunday nights.

Joe says: “Strictly is one of the biggest, most entertaining shows on TV and being asked to be part of it is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I’m thrilled and terrified about in equal measures!”

Joe McFadden is a Scottish actor, born in Glasgow and best-known for playing the role of Raffaello ‘Raf’ di Lucca in BBC One’s medical drama, Holby City. He first came to national attention playing PC Joe Mason in Heartbeat and has also appeared in Take the High Road, The Crow Road and Sex, Chips & Rock ‘n’ Roll. In addition to his television roles, Joe also has a background in theatre appearing in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Rent in London’s West End.

The news was revealed today (Saturday 12 August) on the official Strictly Come Dancing Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Joe McFadden joins Reverend Richard Coles, Gemma Atkinson, Ruth Langsford , Davood Ghadami and Mollie King who have also been confirmed for the new series. More celebrity contestants will be announced in due course.
