Tickets will be allocated randomly, but weighted in favour of those living in Hackney and the other five Olympic boroughs with a smaller amount distributed throughout the rest of the UK.

Radio 1 has secured four first class ambassadors to champion the event and be involved in the programme of outreach activity in the build up to BBC Radio 1's Hackney Weekend 2012. The ambassadors are one of the UK’s most successful musical exports: Leona Lewis who grew up in Hackney; Radio 1/1Xtra DJ Trevor Nelson MBE and World and European Triple Jump Champion Phillips Idowu, who were both born in Hackney; together with East London’s award-winning artist and actor Plan B.

As host nation broadcaster for London 2012 the BBC is broadcasting a wide range of Olympic programming in 2012; including the London 2012 Festival, the Olympic Torch Relay and the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The BBC will have extensive coverage of the Games from 27 July to 12 August on television, radio, online and mobile, including live action of every sport from every venue where it’s happening throughout every day on bbc.co.uk/sport.
