BBC Radio 2 In Concert presents Tom Odell

Jo Whiley has announced that Tom Odell will perform a live In Concert exclusively for BBC Radio 2.

The concert will take place at the famous Maida Vale Studios, London, on Thursday 17 November from 8pm, to be broadcast live on Radio 2, as well as in vision via the BBC Red Button and at bbc.co.uk/radio2.

Earlier in the day, fans will be able to hear tracks from Tom’s soundcheck in Ken Bruce’s Radio 2 show (10am-12noon), plus an interview ahead of the evening’s performance on Simon Mayo’s Drivetime (5-7pm). He’ll also be answering listener questions with Jo Whiley between 5.45-6pm live on the BBC Red Button and at bbc.co.uk/radio2.

In 2012 aged 21, the British singer-songwriter made his television debut on BBC Two’s Later... with Jools Holland, won in the Critics' Choice category at the Brit Awards and released his debut single, Another Love, which to date has sold more than 800,000 copies worldwide. The following year Tom went on to release his platinum-selling first full length studio album, Long Way Down, which went straight to number one in the UK charts. In his career to date, Tom has also won an Ivor Novello award for Songwriter of the Year, and supported legendary musicians such as Elton John and Billy Joel.

We've supported Tom since he burst onto the music scene in 2012 and he's become a regular fixture on our playlist as well as a firm favourite with listeners.”

Tom Odell says: “I listened to a lot of In Concerts growing up and I’m so honoured to be playing one for BBC Radio 2 this year, especially at the prestigious Maida Vale Studios, where so many of my heroes have performed.”

Tickets for the event can be applied for online at bbc.co.uk/radio2. Tickets are free and successful applicants will be selected at random once the registration period has closed. Tickets can be applied for from 8.30pm on Monday 7 November until 10pm on Thursday 10 November.

The winter season of BBC Radio 2 In Concert kicked off in September with Van Morrison, and will be followed by Simple Minds on Thursday 10 November. Past concerts have featured world class musicians including the iconic Jeff Lynne’s ELO, Ed Sheeran, A-ha and Gregory Porter.
