Boy George comments on Evander Holyfield Celebrity Big Brother homophobia row

Boy George has criticised Evander Holyfield after the former boxer made homophobic remarks on Celebrity Big Brother.

The American was reprimanded by the show's producers in the diary room after he said that being gay and being open about sexuality "wasn't normal".

Born-again Christian Holyfield added: "If you were born and your leg were turned this way - what would you do? You go to the doctor and get it fixed back, right? All I'm trying to tell you, you know how handicap people are born."

This promoted openly gay Boy George to round on the retired boxer on Twitter, saying:

"Shame, I had such admiration for Mr Evander Holyfield, he seemed dignified and I was sure he was a cool, smart, giant! I think anyone visiting this country for any reason should be cautioned and forced to swear allegiance to 'Queens & country!!'."

The singer added: "At customs there should be a huge sign! Welcome to Britain, racism, sexism, homophobia and bad hair are not tolerated!"

Other people meanwhile who are appearing on this year's Celebrity Big Brother include Dappy, Lee Ryan and Lionel Blair.
