Steve Coogan & Anna Friel complete the Celebrity Gogglebox line up

The Bafta award winning Gogglebox returns once again with a celebrity special for the third time. Steve and Anna will be joining previously announced England stars Jamie Vardy, Daniel Sturridge and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and pop sensations Olly Murs and Niall Horan.

Steve Coogan said “Cancer has robbed us of the most amazing talent this year and we’ve all lost people close to us. The work undertaken by the Stand Up To Cancer campaign is nothing short of fantastic and Anna and I are delighted to be able to play our part.”

Anna Friel added, “At a time when cancer seems to affect more of us than ever before, we really need to pull together. Steve and I are such big fans of Gogglebox and are thrilled to be part of this year’s Stand Up To Cancer. We hope that we can help raise lots of money for such a brilliant cause.”

This very special edition of the TV review programme will join some famous faces as they gawp and gossip at the week’s TV. Between their own cutting remarks, tears and laughter will be the views of the genuine Gogglebox households including retired Leon and June, hairdressers Christopher and Stephen and Derby family the Siddiquis.

This year Celebrity Gogglebox is even more poignant as it will be the first celebrity special without the celebrated narration of Caroline Aherne who the show will be dedicated to.

In recent years the shows has seen some unlikely celebrities share a sofa - all in the name of charity; from Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Oasis superstar Noel Gallagher, to Jamie Dornan and Nick Frost, Boy George, Geri Horner (nee Halliwell) and Marilyn and comedian Miranda Hart and her real life mother, Diana.

Stand Up To Cancer, sponsored by BT, will be live for an unforgettable night of entertainment and fundraising on Channel 4. Davina McCall, Alan Carr and Adam Hills will be joined by a flock of famous faces to make you laugh, cry and raise enormous amounts of money.

Launched in the UK in 2012, the joint national fundraising campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4 raises funds for translational research, accelerating new cancer treatments and tests to UK patients to save more lives, more quickly. More than £25million has been raised in the UK to date and 30 trials and projects have been funded, with around 9,000 cancer patients either participating, or due to participate.
