Manhunt: The Search for Natalie Hemming

Channel 4 has announced details of the first episode of Manhunt (w/t) their major new series following the work of the Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit.

The Search for Natalie Hemming will follow the investigation into the disappearance of 31 year old Natalie Hemming.

Natalie, mother of three, disappeared seemingly without a trace on 1st May 2016. Her frantic mother phoned 999 two days later, triggering what became one of the biggest missing persons search in the history of Thames Valley Police.

In intimate detail and across all aspects of the case, this extraordinary film will examine what takes place when the worst happens as the investigation into Natalie’s disappearance becomes a murder enquiry.

With unprecedented access to the minute by minute police investigation, Manhunt (w/t) follows every moment of this unique multi-disciplinary team’s investigative and forensic work, examining every detail from the moment of this emergency call to the final verdict.

The film also follows Natalie’s family as they struggle to come to terms with the devastating news. 

Each episode of the Manhunt (w/t) series will focus on one crime and the hunt for the criminals involved. It has been filmed over two years with the Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit, the largest non-metropolitan force in the UK, which deals with a population of over 2 million people.

The Search for Natalie Hemming has been made for Channel 4 by the award-winning True Vision & True Vision Aire (My Son the Jihadi, Forced Marriage Cops). It is directed by multi-award winning and 2017 double BAFTA nominee Anna Hall (Behind Closed Doors, The Hunt for Britain’s Sex Gangs. It has been commissioned for Channel 4 by Deputy Head of Documentaries Amy Flanagan. The Executive Producer is Brian Woods.
