Charli XCX on new music: 'It's going to be the most pop thing I've ever done'

'Boom Clap' sensation Charli XCX has opened up about her plans for her next studio album and confessed that it will be much more within the pop vein.

During a new interview with i-D magazine, the beauty admitted that she wants to go "full-on" pop for her next collection, which will be the follow-up offering to 'Sucker', and explained that she can't wait to get started:

"I've been working with SOPHIE on a few things, he's incredibly talented. We did a little trip to LA together to hang out and do some writing; I'm really excited about it. It's just ideas at the moment, but hopefully people will hear stuff next year."

Charli XCX went onto add that it will sound very different to the songs fans know her for: "It's going to be so different from the last album. It's going to be the most pop thing and the most electronic thing I've done. I started working in that way quite naturally, it just happened. This always happens, the second I put out the previous record I'm always over it."

SOPHIE, the producer mentioned in the interview (real name Samuel Long), tends to focus his style on electronic music and has produced for acts including QT, Madonna and Namie Amuro. Most famously, SOPHIE produced 'Bitch I'm Madonna' for the Queen of Pop's new album, 'Rebel Heart'.
