Cher on Lady Gaga's meat purse: "It felt very weird but the design was gorgeous"

‘Believe’ diva Cher has been discussing her thoughts on the sartorial choices of Lady Gaga.

Cher presented Gaga with an award at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards when the ‘Applause’ singer was dressed in her now infamous meat dress.

In order to hold a microphone and accept her award, Gaga asked Cher to hold her matching meat purse, which was made of raw beef and jewels.

Thinking back on the event, Cher told Heat magazine: “I thought it was hysterical. I didn't realise what it was at first and then she said, 'Hold my meat purse', and I thought it was a new designer I didn't know.”

The 67-year-old singer added: “Then I looked down and thought, 'Woah this is strange'. It felt very weird, but the design was gorgeous and it was really a work of art.”

Lady Gaga’s meat dress was designed by Franc Fernandez and is now on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame having been preserved by taxidermists.

Cher also recently gave her opinion on the music of today’s pop starlets saying: “I like Rihanna's music a lot and I think you can't get better than Adele. I like what Gaga's songs say for the most part”.
