Cher Lloyd says she put on cocky X Factor persona because she was scared

Cher Lloyd has admitted that she changed her personality whilst she was on the X Factor.

The singer appeared on the 2010 series of the TV talent show when she was just 17 and is remembered by many as being over-confident and a bit of a brat.

Speaking to The Sun, Lloyd - who is currently in the throes of breaking America - concedes that she put on her arrogant nature because she was "terrified" about being on the programme. The 'Want U Back' star said:

"I was an absolute b****. I raise my hands up to it. I was aggressive, I was cocky. I put my foot in it. I built up this big persona of 'I'm the bee's knees' and then I had to deal with it and pick up the pieces. It wasn't the person I am - I put it on because I was terrified every single day that I was on the TV show."

She said: "I read the papers and I looked online and I almost didn't believe it was me. I got more and more frustrated and I wouldn’t do interviews. I was a nightmare. I was aggressive and I thought the whole world was against me and I don't know why. It was weird."
