Chipmunk supports Chris Brown as the pair's collaboration takes off

UK rapper Chipmunk has defended his decision to work with Chris Brown on his new single, 'Champion'.

Brown's profile was both raised and shamed after he notoriously assaulted his then girlfriend Rihanna back in 2009. The 'Forever' star has since undergone a series of rehabilitation classes on domestic violence in order to reinstate his reputation as a great performer and credible role model to fans.

In an interview with The Evening Standard, Chipmunk explained:

"Chris has had a difficult time and he's literally had to start again, accept his wrongs and apologise - and continuously apologise - to get himself back to the point where he is now. Every man makes mistakes, and it takes a real man to learn from them."

"A lot of people did try to persuade me not to do the track. But knowing where I'm at and what I stand for in this country, there was nothing that was going to stop me."

"People were saying radio won't play it, TV won't play it. I said, 'You know what man? I'm doing it'."

The video for the track, which will be officially released next month, has already scored over 2.6 million views on YouTube and you can watch it here:
