Christina Aguilera files for divorce
Just shortly after announcing the separation this week, Christina Aguilera has now filed for divorce from her husband Jordan Bratman after five years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.
The couple, who signed a pre-nup before they wed in 2005, have filed a petition which lists the date of separation as September 11 2010 requesting that: “Earnings and accumulations of Aguilera before marriage, during marriage and from and after the date of separation be considered separate property.”
In a statement about the separation released by Aguilera on Tuesday (12.10.10) the singer confirmed she and Bratman had broken up but said: “Although Jordan and I are separated, our commitment to our son Max remains as strong as ever.”
29-year-old Aguilera - represented by powerhouse attorney Laura Wassel - states in the petition that she will block any attempt made by Bratman to receive child support.
