Christina Aguilera's talent honoured at People's Choice awards

Christina Aguilera was given the special People's Voice award last night (January 9)

The singer's career was honoured at the 2013 People's Choice awards in Los Angeles, where she also performed.

The Voice USA coach played the track 'Blank Page' before collecting the award, where she gave a passionate speech.

Aguilera said: "What an emotional song. Thank you so much for this honour and for giving me this form of expression to be able to use my voice. Thank you so much for this People's Voice Award. Wow. When I sing, I believe it is the only time I can be myself and express all of me and who I am. I find a home in music, and I hope my music and my voice allows others to find a home as well. That's why this is so important to me and so special."

She continued: "So, people that feel alone or outcast… kids that feel bullied or lost. Remember that you have a voice and that you should use that voice to survive and persevere. This award also means so much as it represents the people. The fans who have always stood by throughout everything."

Other winners on the night included Katy Perry, who landed four awards, and One Direction, who won the Favourite Album and Favourite Song gongs.
