Christina Aguilera: 'Tension between myself and Adam Levine isn't personal'

'Fighter' beauty Christina Aguilera has revealed that while fans of the hit U.S. vocal talent show 'The Voice' might notice an air of tension between herself and fellow mentor Adam Levine, it doesn't exist in real life.

Speaking to Fox News, the superstar explained that the only reason there's ever friction between them is because they both have strong opinions and fiery personalities: "We're both very passionate, but it isn't personal with Adam. It never has been. We're just very strong personalities."

She also confessed that stepping away from the show as a mentor for a while was great, because it has allowed her to realise that the real competition isn't between the judges and instead is between the hopefuls:

"The time off made me see more than ever that [the competition] isn''t about us. It''s about the contestants. To me, being on the show [and] gaining advice from all of us who have lived this business, that is success."

Meanwhile, British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has signed up to be Aguilera's adviseron the show and Paul Telegdy, president of late night and alternative programming at NBC Entertainment, issued a statement on the exciting news, telling the press: "This group of wildly successful musicians will add their distinctive talents to their respective teams. I know Christina, Adam, Cee Lo and Blake are very much looking forward to having them come aboard."
