Collabro star reveals eating disorder battle: 'I looked like a shadow of myself'

Collabro singer Jamie Lambert has revealed that he suffered from an eating disorder when at university.

The Brit told The Sun that he dropped in weight when he started attending Glasgow University as he lost self-confidence.

The former Britain's Got Talent contestant said that he would generally eat a small bowl of porridge, a tin of kidney beans and a salad each day.

Lambert said: "There was very little food. I was very self-conscious and my self-esteem collapsed.

"I’d spent years being overweight and although I was now slimmer, the lack of self-esteem never fully left me. I lost all the weight and just kept doing it.

"Eating disorders take the life out of you. I looked like a shadow of myself."

The singer also criticised the fashion industry for encouraging skinny models, adding:

"Any fashion house that provokes someone to be sick or be a certain size or abuse laxatives or not eat is committing a hate crime. I’d call them out for that."
