'Celebration Rock' out now, also nominated for Polaris Prize 2012

"I think it's the best rock record I've heard this year." - NPR's 'All Things Considered'
"a rock record for the ages" - Pitchfork 'Best New Music' (8.8)
"Every track’s an anthem, every second precious, on this breathless new album." BBC Music
"These two know how hard they've worked to buy themselves some time, and how expensive and precious time can get, the darkness of maturity creeping closer but never quite arriving. This is not the sound of settling." - Spin (9/10)
"The sound of fireworks begins and ends the album; in between more pyrotechnics come courtesy of the guitarist Brian King's rapid-fire riffs and the drummer David Prowse's pummeling gallop." - The New York Times
"Japandroids simultaneously epitomise and critique the act of being in a wicked awesome cult rock band." Drowned in Sound
"Imagine a different Eighties: The Replacements made Born in the USA, Hüsker Dü were Hulk Hogan's entrance music, and indie rock was the keggercrushing choice of Top Gun America." - Rolling Stone, 4 Stars
"it's an album about need and immediacy and getting shit off your chest. There's no holding it back." - Stereogum's 'Album of the Week'
"Celebration Rock encapsulates the kind of affirmative, collective experiences that define an entire adolescence." The Quietus

Following on from their inclusion in this year's Polaris Prize long list last week, Vancouver duo Japandroids have announced a full UK and European tour starting this August that will take them through September and includes Pitchfork's Music Festival in November. This comes on the heels of the rapturously received new album 'Celebration Rock' and their current North American tour, where they have sold out shows in Seattle, Portland, SF, LA, San Diego, Denver, Chicago, Toronto, NYC, Brooklyn, Philly, DC and Vancouver.
Their long awaited follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2009 debut 'Post Nothing', 'Celebration Rock', came out on 4th June on Polyvinyl Records, debuting at #37 on the USA Billboard charts. The album was produced by Jesse Gander and Japandroids and has been called "one of the year's most thrilling rock records" by Rolling Stone and "a rock record for the ages" by Pitchfork and the critics have unanimously agreed with that.

Last week, the band performed two songs on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, 'Fire's Highway' for TV, and a special online performance of 'The House That Heaven Built' featuring The Roots' "Captain" Kirk Douglas on backing guitars and vocals.
