'Hot Right Now' hitmaker DJ Fresh has opened up about an ongoing health problem that led to him undergoing surgery to remove a tumour from his torso.

Speaking to Q magazine, he explained that life as a touring musician meant that he spent years not eating properly and it had serious consequences:

"I woke up one morning with a paramedic next to me and a needle in my arm. I was diagnosed with a tumour on my pancreas."

Fresh, real name Daniel Stein, added: "Apparently, I was suffering for not having enough blood sugar for years. It's what happens when you're travelling and not eating regularly."

He is set to open up for Example at London's iTunes Festival on September 15 at Camden's Roundhouse.
