Demi Lovato asks fans to respond to haters with love instead of "combat"

Demi Lovato has called on her fans to be nicer to those who send hate to her.

Celebrities in today's digital age are often the subject of online trolls and Lovato is no exception.

However, she took to Twitter to tell her fans that spreading love is the way to go, even if it is in the face of vitriol.

She said: "Dear haters, you don't have to like me cause I love you. Everyone's equal, everyone has a soul and everyone deserves to be loved.

"Dear Lovatics, for every hater tweet - don't respond with hate but love and positivity...Try love instead of combat."

The singer was recently forced into spreading a message of a similar nature after fans rounded on comedian Kathy Griffin after she slagged off the former X Factor judge.

Lovato meanwhile is due to play a show in London on June 1 at the Koko venue.

However, many fans were left seething at the decision to play only one date at a relatively small venue.
