Demi Lovato on body confidence: 'I don't always feel comfortable in my own skin and that's OK'

Pop sensation and 'X Factor USA' judge Demi Lovato has revealed that while she's a big supporter of showing your real self in photographs, she is sometimes grateful that airbrushing exists because it can help to boost confidence.

Speaking to You magazine, the songstress admitted that she thinks it's important to fully embrace who you are, but even the most confident people sometimes need a little pick-me-up if they're feeling self-conscious because that can happen:

"I wouldn’t say I am comfortable in my skin today. I’m having one of those once-a-month moments when I’ve got a little belly and my clothes don’t fit. But I’m a woman and that happens, so thank goodness for airbrushing."

“Real-life beauty is fine for selfies and Twitter, but when it comes to photo shoots, well, airbrushing is no bad thing.”

The sensation shared an inspirational message with her Twitter followers about self-worth earlier this summer, and suggested that instead of a swear jar they should have a jar that they contribute to when they have negative thoughts about themselves:

"You know how people have swear jars, where if you swear you have to put a dollar in the jar? You could do that with feeling insecure - every time a friend says something bad about (himself/herself), they have to put a dollar in a jar. (And then) you can donate it to charity."
