Demi Lovato has spoken about her role model status.

The singer is an inspiration to many young fans and she told Fault magazine about her role as a positive influence.

However, the US star said that she isn't "perfect" and has made mistakes in the past.

Lovato said: "I pride myself in being a role model but I’m not perfect- I curse like a sailor and I sometimes make mistakes but at the same time I want to be what I know my little sister and that younger generation needs."

Speaking meanwhile about her 'Really Don't Care' collaborator Cher Lloyd, the singer added:

"She’s got a lot of attitude and a lot of sass and was perfect for the song."
