Demi Lovato initially found role model tag 'frustrating'

Demi Lovato has admitted that she initially thought being a role model was a burden.

The singer opened up in the 19th issue of Fault magazine about how she coped with being an inspiration to many at such a young age.

However, Lovato stated that she learnt to accept the role model tag.

The 22-year-old US star said: "I use to get frustrated that just because I wanted to sing, I was automatically expected to be a role model. But I had to grow up and realise that no matter what I do I’m going to be somebody’s role model.

"It’s true what they say - 'with great power comes great responsibility' - and everybody’s career is different but for me, I had to grow up and embrace it rather than resent it, as that only made me resent my career."

Lovato meanwhile is currently touring North America in support of her 2013 album 'DEMI'.
