Demi Lovato: 'Photoshop portrays an image of perfection that is unattainable'

'Really Don't Care' songstress Demi Lovato has opened up about Photoshop and confessed that while it's great to have the option to edit out or smooth over certain parts of a picture, it's dangerous to rely on that for every image because it gives a false reality.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan magazine, Lovato admitted that she doesn't have an issue with Photoshop or with people editing pictures, but she hopes that perfection isn't something that's expected because it simply isn't realistic:

"There isn't any wrong with Photoshop. It's not ideal and it portrays an image of perfection that is unattainable, but, hey, if you want a little Photoshop, go for it! But I think it is more powerful when you post a picture online of yourself in a bathing suit and it's not touched up, because that spreads a positive message. But, listen, I love Photoshop when I'm on a photo shoot having a "sweatpants day" where I'd rather be in sweatpants than in a tight leather skirt."

Lovato added that it's nice to sometimes share unedited and 'raw' photographs: "However, if you are in a position where you are being photoshopped, like celebrities usually are, it's also good to post raw pictures to keep a balance. I post images without makeup all the time to show me, so I feel I do have that balance."
