Demi Lovato: 'I dealt with self-esteem issues by taking care of my skin'

Songstress Demi Lovato has revealed that she helped herself to overcome self-esteem issues by taking great care of her skin.

Speaking to Celebuzz about her new skincare line Devonne by Demi, the beauty explained that she thinks taking care of your skin is a fantastic way to practice self-love:

“When I suffered from body image issues, I knew that I could always take care of my skin. So the things that I wasn’t in take control of, skincare, for me, was something that I knew I could take care of. I throw around the phrase skincare is self care a lot, but it really got me through several years of my life where that’s really the only way I was taking care of myself."

“I think that anytime you’re taking care of yourself — whether it’s with washing your face or getting a massage or working out — anytime that you’re taking care of yourself you’re doing something that is helping your self esteem. I believe that the more you do for yourself, the better you’ll feel and less you’ll have to do those other things [like plastic surgery]. Like if you want to get your lips done great, go do that! But I know that for me, I can take care of my skin and feel great about that knowing that I’m doing everything I can [naturally].”
