Demi Lovato to be honoured at Billboard Women in Music awards

'Cool For The Summer' sensation Demi Lovato will receive the inaugural 'Rulebreaker' prize at this year's Billboard Women in Music awards.

She will be honoured at the New York City event on December 11 and has also been confirmed to perform at the star-studded ceremony. Janice Min, co-president and chief creative officer of Guggenheim Media’s Entertainment Group, issued a statement on the exciting news:

"Demi Lovato is an artist in full control of her career. Her ability to use and not hide her personal story in her music and in her own mission is inspiring. She has a passion and drive to empower other girls and women that is remarkable. She’s a true force in the industry and a ‘rule breaker’ who has inspired millions."

Songstress Selena Gomez will receive the Chart Topper award at the ceremony and Min explained that she was chosen to win it for her new album 'Revival': "We want to highlight this moment for a woman who has become a role model for many, a feminist, an independent voice whose new album truly showcases her as a mature artist."
