Demi Lovato praises 'brave' Kesha: 'We have to support each other'

'Confident' hitmaker Demi Lovato has revealed that Kesha is incredible "brave" for having the courage to stand up for what she believes in.

She sat down for an interview with Latina magazine and opened up about Kesha's recent legal battle against producer Dr Luke, and explained that artists - especially female artists - need to support one another:

"It wasn’t so much about Dr. Luke, that’s not my business what happened or what may have not have happened. The important thing for me is that people are so afraid to come forward when they are sexually abused or raped because 1) it’s not something that’s easy to prove so you don’t want to go through the whole process and it drags it out. 2) Because it’s hard to prove people are so quick to dispel the rumors or not believe you and therefore nobody’s coming forward and change is only happening in a worse sense."

She went onto add that Kesha was incredible "brave" to tell the world her story and confessed that female artists shouldn't feel as though they have to compete because empowerment can be found in community: "We have to support each other."

Kesha, meanwhile, recently unveiled a new song called 'True Colors' with DJ Zedd and it marks the first piece of music released since the singer's unsuccessful attempts to escape a contract with producer Dr Luke and his label Kemosabe.
