Demi Lovato on breaking free from her Disney past

"Cool For The Summer" sensation Demi Lovato has revealed that spending time in rehab for eating disorder issues, mental health troubles and struggles with substance abuse ended up being helpful in allowing her to break out of the child star mould.

She told The Calgary Herald that her stint in rehab helped her to make the transition from Disney star to grown-up star so she didn't have to do much outside of that in order to change her image:

"For me, the transition was a little bit easier because I didn't have to do anything to break out of the Disney mould. It's a lot easier when you just go to rehab. So, I kind of grew up really fast in the public eye in that way and so when it was time to release my music, I think people looked at me differently."
