SCREAMING PEACHES NEW SINGLE ANNOUNCED

Single 'Japanese Flower Garden' - available now

Screaming Peaches are a four-piece alternative pop band from South London, consisting of Theo Spark (Vocals, Guitar), Jamie Stiby Harris (Vocals, Keys, Guitar), Oliver Tobin (Bass), and Coz Kerrigan (Drums).

Having formed as MOVIE in December 2014, they released their debut single 'Ads' in June 2014 and follow up single ‘Tusks’ in November 2014 garnering radio support from Radio 1 (Huw Stephens, Zane Lowe, Phil Taggart), 6 Music (Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq) XFM and Triple j, as well as appearing in the Guardian as their inaugural New Band of The Week and Noisey and played a slew of festival dates in 2014 and 2015 including Y Not, Boardmasters and Forgotten Fields.

The band decided to take a break from music after the summer of 2015 to work on their film projects and a Claymation opera based on Don Giovanni. Sonically, the songs to accompany it are a combination of baroque and funk. Visually (If you can imagine) it is an imaginative combination of Pingu and The Clangers!  This extraordinary project is set to go into production shortly before touring it at the 2017 film festivals in 2017.

As if this wasn’t keeping them busy enough, the band went back into their rehearsal room in 2016 and started writing more tracks constructed lovingly with their very own unique brand of ‘art pop funk’ .  The new track Japanese Flower Garden is the first fruits of this labour.

The single was shot and directed by good friends of the band Becan and Simon (from the band in - Pleasure Complex). Theo says of the song: ‘It is a bitter, jilted jig that I was spurred on to write upon finding out my ex-girlfriend had a new man. Jamie and I wrote it on our mattress when we were squatting in a primary school in Bermondsey in about 20 minutes - it was one of those fully formed songs that came out instantaneously and spontaneously. We produced it ourselves and had it mixed by Ben Baptie (who has worked with artists such as Albert Hammond, Lady Gaga, Rufus Wainwright, Lana Del Ray, Lapsley) who is a close buddy of ours.’
