Diplo said his Ed Sheeran-penned Justin Bieber collab was "perfect timing"

Hitmaker Diplo has revealed that getting Justin Bieber to appear on a track that was written by Ed Sheeran was something he knew he wanted to do

Talking about the track 'Cold Water', which was co-written and co-produced by Ed and his collaborator Benny Blanco, Diplo explained that Bieber's vocals were the perfect addition and the timing of the project couldn't have been better:

"I had been trying to link with Benny Blanco and Ed Sheeran for years to find the right song we could all work on together and the moment I heard this one, I knew that it was the one. The timing was perfect and when we approached Justin, he was also in love with the song we all had written."

As previously reported, Diplo praised Bieber's involvement on the song: "It sounds like Major Lazer, it's got a dancehall tempo. Ed Sheeran actually wrote it with us. It's got African guitar and a kind of dancehall groove to it, but it sounds like a Bieber song. He just killed it. The vocal tracking sounds like 100 per cent Justin Bieber."
