Ed’s UK tour is set to take place later this year, kicking off on October 13 with five consecutive nights at London’s Hammersmith Apollo, then shows in Brighton, Newport, Bournemouth, Plymouth, Swindon, Reading, Birmingham, Nottingham, Manchester, Doncaster, Hull, Blackpool, Newcastle and Edinburgh, before finishing up at Glasgow’s Barrowlands on November 16. The tour is completely sold out.

Ed’s debut album ‘+’ - the biggest selling week 1 debut for a UK male in more than 10 years - is now certified triple-platinum, having sold more than a million copies in the UK alone since its September release. The “flame-haired guitar genius” also has a myriad of accolades including 2 BRIT Awards (Best British Male and Breakthrough), iTunes and Q Awards Best Breakthrough and was named in Google’s Zeitgeist ‘Top 10 Fastest Rising Search Terms’ (UK) 2011 list. It was also announced by The Official Charts Company this morning that Ed is the most-streamed artist of 2012, beating Lana Del Ray, David Guetta and Rihanna.

Last year saw the release of the massive UK top five singles, ‘The A Team’, ‘You Need Me, I Don’t Need You’, 'Drunk’ and ‘Lego House’.

‘Lego House’ is the brand new single from 2011’s breakthrough artist - Ed Sheeran, set for release on November 14 via Asylum Records.  It is the third single to be taken from the #1 debut smash album ‘+’ which sold more than 100K in its first week: the biggest first week sales of any male debut in over 10 years (outside reality TV).

It has been a phenomenal year for Ed Sheeran. Ed Sheeran’s + is timeless song-writing informed as much by Jay-Z and Eminem as by Bob Dylan and Damien Rice.  The flame-haired 20-year-old’s lyrics talk about the city he loves and the people in it, the people made by it, and those damaged by it. They also talk of love and of loss. ‘Song writing phenomenon’(Q Magazine) - Ed’s talent is evidenced on songs like ‘Small Bump’ – a true story with a heart-wrenching twist about a friend and her baby, whereas ‘Drunk’ “I wanna be drunk when I wake up, on the right side of the wrong bed” tackles an altogether different subject. ‘Wake Me Up’ is tender “then you’d lie with me, til I fall asleep and flutter eyelash on my cheek, between the sheets” and was written when heavily intoxicated. The autographical, show stopper ‘You Need Me, I Don’t Need You’ includes ‘I’ve done around about a thousand shows, but I haven’t got a house plus I live on a couch, so you believe the lyrics when I’m singing them out’.

Aged 16, Ed arrived in London from Suffolk with one thing on his mind: playing gigs, as many as he could and as often as he could. Selling CD’s out of his rucksack he supported himself and gathered fans one at a time. Over 5 self-made, and self-released EPs Ed demonstrated his talent and breadth. Written and recorded between shows over several years, largely in a home-studio just outside London with collaborator Jake Gosling + is the next exciting stage in Ed’s do-it-yourself career.

September 12 will see the release of + on Asylum Records. “I’d like to say it’s all about positivity,” Ed says of the album’s title, “but really it’s just a cool sign that I love”.

20-year-old singer songwriter, Ed Sheeran, has announced a string of live shows for early 2012.  This follows a completely sold out 18-date tour in October of this year. The dates will begin at Edinburgh’s Picture House on January 10, and include shows in Manchester and Wolverhampton, before wrapping up with a Kilimanjaro Live Presents gig at Brixton’s O2 Academy on January 20.

Before his signing to Asylum Records (part of Atlantic Records) in early 2011, Ed had already gained a loyal following by touring relentlessly and selling tens of thousands of copies of self released E.P’s through his website, digital stores and out of his backpack at gigs. His 5th E.P, ‘No.5 Collaborations’, (featuring hip-hop and grime favourites: Devlin, Wretch 32 and Wiley to name a few) peaked at #2 in the iTunes chart within 24 hours of its release. The only artist selling more copies than Ed at the time was Rihanna. Since then, Ed has enjoyed great success with his debut single, ‘The A Team’, which has been sitting comfortably in side the Top 10 since its release in June, and a plethora of sold out shows including three consecutive homecoming gigs at Norwich’s Waterfront.
