Ed Sheeran: 'The song I wrote about being cheated on isn't about Taylor Swift'

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has confessed that while he penned a track about being cheated on for his upcoming new album, it isn't about who his fans might think.

The song, entitled 'Don't', is about someone the superstar dated who "ended up physically involved with one of my friends in the same hotel that we were staying in", but he has revealed to Rolling Stone that it's not about country-pop sweetheart Taylor Swift because they have never dated:

"It's 100 percent not about Taylor. Taylor's one of these people that if you piss her off and she writes a song about you, it's not good news for you. I've never dated Taylor. I've dated a few singers, though."

'Don't' features lyrics such as, "me and her, we make money the same way/Four cities, two planes the same day," and Sheeran added that when he played it to Swift for the first time, she said: "Whatever happens, ever, between us as friends, I never want to piss you off that much."

He will unveil his sophomore album on June 23 and recently confirmed that it is called "'x' or 'multiply'".
