Ed Sheeran criticises Backstreet Boys' tour setlist: 'Play your hits! That's what people want!'

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has hit out at well-loved artists who choose to give preference to their newer material at big concerts because devoted fans always want to hear the hit singles.

Speaking to The Sun about the Backstreet Boys' reunion gigs, the 'Sing' hitmaker explained that he was shocked they were performing their new songs because people bought tickets to those shows expecting to hear things like 'I Want It That Way' and 'As Long As You Love Me':

"I study how other people perform and that is unacceptable, as the Backstreet Boys have so many hits. Do not do that ever again, that is not fair. I played the Royal Albert Hall and did two new songs, but I know that's what people want. The Backstreet Boys, what are they doing? Play your hits."

Over the weekend, Sheeran confirmed that he will be sharing new music with his followers once per week from now on, and tweeted: "Gonna be dropping a video every saturday for a while. new songs on the way one after the other x."
