Ed Sheeran thinks labels leak the location of bands like One Direction

Ed Sheeran believes record labels deliberately leak the whereabouts of top bands like One Direction in an effort to create a "media frenzy".

The 'Live While We're Young' pop group regularly have press interest at airports and fans often congregate outside their hotels on tour.

This has been recently happening in South America, where the group are currently visiting on their Where We Are world stadium tour.

Speaking to The Sun, Sheeran said that he thinks the band's team may be behind leaking the group's location. He said:

"If you notice, whenever these big artists go into towns and there are thousands of kids outside the hotel – especially South America – it’s all the label leaking where they are. They [the label] leak their flight and hotel details all to create a media frenzy.

“They got some great photos, but I don’t think it’s fair on the kids or the artists, because the kids don’t get to meet the bands and the artists get very claustrophobic.”
