Ed Sheeran to perform at New York's Ellis Island

Earlier this month, Sheeran promised New York fans that there would be a 'Multiply' day in their city on June 13 and he has now confirmed the plans.

He explained that he will play several shows throughout the day at venues that increase in capacity and will round off the string of gigs with a bigger performance on Ellis Island at the end of it all.

During an interview with Fresh 102.7, the superstar explained that he's really excited to perform at Ellis Island as he's never been there before and thinks someone must have passed through there in his family at some point in time: "I’m sure one of my ancestors has been there though. I know my great, great, great grandfather came over from Ireland because they all lived in Boston.”

Referring to the 'Multiply' day idea, which has already seen successful outings in Australia and the UK, Sheeran added: "It’s an interesting concept thought up by the label."
