Ed Sheeran on writing for One Direction: 'They didn't write the songs, but they sing well on them so it's good'

'Lego House' hitmaker Ed Sheeran has opened up about writing songs for One Direction in a new interview and admitted that it worked well because they delivered vocally despite not contributing to the creative process.

Speaking to Sugarscape about writing for the boyband, he explained that he likes to mix it up and work with different kinds of groups and artists, and thinks the lads performed well on what he gave them to work with ('Little Things', 'Summer Love'):

"I'm very open, I think you can create good music with anyone. Even if they don't have anything to do with it, you can still make a good song. Like with the songs I wrote for One Direction, they didn't write on them but can sing well on them, so that still makes it a good song, I guess."

He went onto add that while he wasn't asked to write material for the heartthrobs' latest offering, 'Midnight Memories', he may be involved in the songwriting process for their next record: "I didn't get a phone call for album three, but I saw Simon Cowell at Britain's Got Talent. We've worked it out and next record, we'll see."
