Ed Sheeran says he owes Pharrell a "hat" after 'Sing' success

Ed Sheeran has joked that he should give Pharrell Williams a hat because of the success of his single 'Sing'.

The Brit teamed up with the US superstar on the track, which was co-written and produced by the 'Happy' man.

The tune has since reached No.1 in the UK and it also performed well in North America.

Speaking to MTV, Sheeran said that he thinks Williams has a natural ability at knowing what songs will become hits.

As result, the singer-songwriter thinks he should treat the music maestro by adding to his hat collection.

He said: "I swear Pharrell has special foresight. I said I wanted to release 'Don't' as the first single. He said it should be 'Sing' and it would do over 100,000 in the US and sure enough it's doing 140,000. I owe him a hat or something."

'Sing' meanwhile features on Sheeran's forthcoming new album 'x', which will be released in the UK on June 23.
