Ed Sheeran on fanbase: "I always did envision it would be teenage fans"

Ed Sheeran says he always had a feeling his audience would mainly consist of youths.

The singer-songwriter has a massive fanbase across the world and he often strikes a chord with younger people.

However, he told Radio.com that his gig-goers used to be older men before more youths got involved.

Sheeran said: "To be honest, I always did envision it would be teenage fans. To start off with [my fan base] was older men and as soon as it became teenage fans, the gigs started becoming more fun. People weren’t just turning up to stand still.

"People were turning up to sing, clap, have a good time and enjoy themselves. I really, really like having a young fan base. It’s more exciting."

The Brit meanwhile has unleashed the new song 'Afire Love' as he continues to promote upcoming album 'x', which will be released on June 23.
