Ed Sheeran set to beat Morrissey in UK albums chart battle

Ed Sheeran is currently triumphing over Morrissey in the UK albums chart.

The singer-songwriter's latest effort 'x' has been No.1 in the country for three weeks and the Official Charts Company confirmed today (July 16) that it is still leading the way.

The midweek update shows that the record is 6,000 copies ahead of Morrissey's new entry 'World Peace Is None Of Your Business', which rests at No.2.

At No.3 on the update meanwhile is Sam Smith's 'In The Lonely Hour', whilst Dolly Parton's retrospective 'Blue Smoke' is No.4.

Completing the top five this week is Jungle with their self-titled new entry.

Other new entries meanwhile include Judas Priest's 'Redeemer of Souls' at No.8 and Rise Against's 'The Black Market' at No.9.
