Ed Sheeran still on course to top UK albums chart

Ed Sheeran is continuing his charge towards another week at No.1 in the UK.

The singer-songwriter's second record 'x' has been the top dog in the albums chart for five weeks straight.

On Wednesday (July 30), it was confirmed that the Brit was 4,500 copies ahead of the second placed 'The Breeze' by Eric Clapton and Friends.

Today (August 1) the gap has narrowed, with only 2,000 units separating the two records.

With the final results announced on Sunday (August 3), it looks like Sheeran will continue his chart reign.

Dolly Parton's 'Blue Smoke' meanwhile is No.3 on the list, with Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers' 'Hypnotic Eye' following at No.4.
