Ed Sheeran continues to dominate UK albums chart for seventh week

Ed Sheeran’s ‘x’ continues to be the UK’s best-selling album seven weeks on from its release.

The British singer/songwriter’s second LP has been sitting undisturbed at No. 1 for the past seven consecutive weeks. ‘x’ is now the longest-running No. 1 album since Adele’s ‘21’ in 2011 which stayed at the top for 11 weeks.

Sitting below Ed Sheeran in the top five this week is a non-mover at No. 2 from Dolly Parton with ‘Blue Smoke’, Sam Smith’s ‘In The Lonely Hour’ is up one to No. 3, Coldplay’s ‘Ghost Stories’ is up two to No. 4, and George Ezra is another non-mover as ‘Wanted On Voyage’ remains at No. 5.

New entries to this week’s album chart come from Charlie Simpson at No. 10 with ‘Long Road Home’, Pixie Lott’s self-titled third album at No. 15, and Magic! at No. 19 with ‘Don’t Kill The Magic’.

Albums climbing back into the top 40 include Imagine Dragons’ ‘Night Vision’ up nine places to No. 33, John Newman up 26 to No. 35 with ‘Tribute’, Haim’s ‘Days Are Gone’ sits at No. 38 after ascending 24 places, and Bob Marley’s ‘Legend’ collection makes a re-appearance at No. 40.
