Ed Sheeran continues charge to eighth straight week at No.1 on UK albums chart

Ed Sheeran is still on course to top the UK albums chart once again this weekend.

The singer-songwriter's second record 'x' has been No.1 for seven weeks in a row and it is showing no signs of slowing down.

The Official Charts Company confirmed on Wednesday (August 6) that it was still top of the list.

Today (August 8) it has been revealed that Sheeran's 'x' is still No.1 in the UK.

The record is Sheeran's second of his career and it follows on from his 2011 debut '+'.

The Gaslight Anthem's new effort 'Get Hurt' is the singer-songwriter's nearest competitor at No.2.

At No.3 today is Sam Smith's debut effort 'In The Lonely Hour'.
