Ed Sheeran's father warned him against talking about drugs

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has admitted that his dad told him not to talk about taking drugs in interviews because he thinks it might have a negative influence on how people perceive him.

The superstar revealed to Howard Stern that when he spoke publicly about his experiences with drugs, he received a strongly-worded email from his father warning him to steer clear of that conversation topic because it could sabotage his success:

"When that came out I got an email from my dad saying 'Your career is flying, but the only thing that will f**k it all up is your mouth... Don't talk about drugs, politics, religion or money.'"

The 'Don't' sensation went onto add that smoking is a prominent vice of his, but when he actively tried to quit it really affected his voice: "When I attempted to stop smoking my voice goes - and when I am on tour I lose three gigs."
