Ed Sheeran says 'homeless' quotes were taken out of context

Ed Sheeran has clarified comments he made about having to sleep rough in the streets.

The singer-songwriter revealed in his new book A Visual Journey that in his pre-fame days he went through a two and a half year period where he at times didn't have a home.

The Brit added that he once slept rough outside of Buckingham Palace and caught up on sleep on the London underground in between playing gigs.

Speaking to Capital FM this week, however, Sheeran said that quotes were taken out of context when published recently.

He said: "It's been really taken out of context in press - everyone's saying Ed Sheeran was homeless. I never say that in the book.

"I went without a bed for some nights, that's it. It's just that I didn't have a place to stay that night, so I slept on the Central Line and outside Buckingham Palace. That's just what I did."
