Ed Sheeran poised to end Meghan Trainor's singles chart reign

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has climbed one place to sit at No.1 today (October 29) in the midweek singles chart with his latest offering, 'Thinking Out Loud'.

Following his performance of the song on the UK's 'X Factor' recently, sales of the track increased and he is now 10,000 copies ahead of the current chart-topper, which is Meghan Trainor's 'All About That Bass'. If Sheeran maintains this lead until the positions are confirmed on Sunday (November 2), it will mark his second UK Number 1 single because he hit the top spot for the first time back in June with 'Sing'.

Elsewhere, Taylor Swift's 'Shake It Off' has climbed two spots to No.3, One Direction's new single 'Steal My Girl' has shot up 11 places to No.6, and Ed Sheeran's 'Don't' is up 22 to No.14.

Trainor's 'All About That Bass', meanwhile, recently tied for the record of being one of the year's longest-running chart-toppers and has now matched Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne's 'Rather Be' with both acts having stayed at No. 1 for a month.
