Ed Sheeran says 'Thinking Out Loud' chart record is 'mental'

Ed Sheeran has admitted that his new chart record is 'mental'.

The Brit's latest single 'Thinking Out Loud' hit No.1 in the UK on Sunday (November 3) after climbing the chart for 19 weeks.

The tune initially hit the chart as a result of digital sales of the song when his second album 'x' was released in June.

It has been confirmed that it is the slowest rise to No.1 in the history of the UK singles chart.

Speaking on Instagram about the news, Sheeran said:

"It's official! Thinking out loud is my 2nd UK #1 from X. Thanks to everyone supporting it, it's mental that its the longest ever climbing single to reach #1. 19 weeks and we here. Started."

Sheeran previously reached No.1 on the singles chart with his track 'Sing' earlier this year.
