Ed Sheeran: 'MOBOs said I had won two awards, but gave them to someone else as I was touring'

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has revealed that major awards ceremonies are rigged and he has proof.

Speaking to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, the 'Thinking Out Loud' sensation admitted that he's experienced rigging first hand and has been given trophies because the artist who was meant to win them didn't attend the ceremony:

"Like most awards shows you don't know what's going to happen, whether it's rigged or not. But I won an award in the summer for a very big award show and I won it 'cos Pharrell didn't turn up. They said well, we were going to give it to him, but he's not turned up so you can have it. I know award shows are rigged."

The superstar went onto add that he has also seen the reverse side of this and was once told he had won two MOBO Awards only for the gongs to be given to other artists as he was away on tour:

"I remember the MOBO Awards got in touch a couple of years ago and told me I had won two, but on the night they gave them to someone else 'cos I was on tour. God bless the MOBOs."
