Ed Sheeran tops lists of most-wanted albums for Christmas

Despite Ed Sheeran already selling over three million copies of his latest record, plenty more people are hoping to find ‘X’ wrapped up under the Christmas tree this year.

In two separate polls conducted by Amazon and Spotify on albums that people would most like to receive as gifts for Christmas, Ed Sheeran’s ‘X’ was voted people’s number one choice.

The other top five album’s that people would like Santa to deliver include Pink Floyd’s ‘The Endless River’, Sam Smith’s ‘In The Lonely Hour’, One Direction’s ‘Four’ and George Ezra’s ‘Wanted On Voyage’.

The poll highlights the popularity of British acts as only two American and one Australian names made it into the Top Ten list in the form of Foo Fighters’ ‘Sonic Highways’, Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ and AC/DC’s ‘Rock Or Bust’.

Speaking about the runaway success of British artists in 2014, Amazon’s EU Digital Music Director, Steve Bernstein, commented: “British music is currently undergoing a tremendous popularity boom, both in the UK and worldwide. It’s really exciting to see the widespread appeal of younger artists such as Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, and One Direction, as well as the likes of legendary acts such as Pink Floyd and Take That.”
