Ed Sheeran's 'x' returns to No.1 in UK

Ed Sheeran has returned to the top of the UK albums chart.

The singer-songwriter's record 'x' - which was released in June - has topped the chart's midweek update.

The Official Charts Company revealed today (January 14) that the album is only 600 copies ahead of its nearest rival, George Ezra's 'Wanted on Voyage'.

At No.3 on the midweek update is Sam Smith's 'In The Lonely Hour', which drops from the top spot.

The record is followed by Taylor Swift's '1989' and Hozier's self-titled debut.

Metallers Sylosis meanwhile have a new entry at No.38 with 'Dormant Heart'.
