Ed Sheeran: 'Going to live gigs was my education'

Ed Sheeran reckons going to see live music was his form of education.

In an extract of his book Ed Sheeran: A Visual Journey published by the Mirror, the singer-songwriter says he wasn't interested in school.

However, his father was happy to let him pursue music and allow him to attend gigs.

Sheeran said: "My dad saw I wasn’t exactly stimulated by trigonometry and science and all the stuff at school, but I loved playing and watching music.

"It was something that I was actually passionate about and worked hard for. So he took me to shows as often as he could, from when I was very young.

"I suppose that was my education – Eric Clapton at the Albert Hall, Paul McCartney at Earl’s Court, and then Bob Dylan, Damien Rice, Richard Thompson. We went to loads of gigs."
