Ed Sheeran on sleeping rough: 'I thrived because I had to work'

'Thinking Out Loud' sensation Ed Sheeran has revealed that when he slept rough he never felt 'hard done by' and he was even more motivated to succeed as a result of the unfortunate situation.

During a new interview with Britain's The Big Issue, the superstar opened up about not having a set home base while he was trying to make a name for himself with his music and confessed that his situation forced him to push for success as he had nothing to fall back on:

"I actually thrived, because I had to work, I had to find more gigs, places to stay. I never woke up thinking I'm hard done by."

"What has pissed me off is that I kept a diary from 2009 to 2010 and then I stopped because I just got really busy. If I'd written everything down from that point to this point it would've been a very cool thing to publish. I've still got the passage about ringing round, 'You got a sofa? No... Spare room? Nah...' Yikes. Heating vent."
