Ed Sheeran returns to the UK top spot with his album 'x'

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran is back at No.1 on the UK Albums Chart this afternoon with his latest offering, 'x'.

He has secured the midweek top spot in this week’s Official Albums Chart, which takes its new Friday (July 10) slot for the first time this week. 'x' first hit the No.1 position upon its release in July 2014, and has spent a total of 12 weeks at the summit to date.

London hip-hop duo Krept & Konan are on track to score this week’s highest new entry with their debut album 'The Long Way Home', which has made an appearance at No.2. They previously entered the Top 20 with their 2013 mixtape 'Young Kingz' and last week made their Official Singles Chart debut with Top 10 'Freak of the Week' ft. Jeremih.

Lionel Richie & The Commodores’ 'The Definitive Collective' has slipped two places to sit at No.3 midweek, and it's trailed by James Bay’s 'Chaos and the Calm' at No.4 and Taylor Swift’s 1989 at No.5.

Following the release of the box-office smash documentary 'Amy', Amy Winehouse’s 'Back to Black' is set to re-enter the Top 40 this week. 'Amy' has broken UK box office records after it enjoyed the biggest ever opening weekend for a British documentary film as well as the all-time second biggest opening for a documentary.
